Dear Cheyenne River Lakota Oyate Family, please note the funeral service information for a elder CRST tribal member with prayerful consideration for her and her family.
Eleanor Miner, age 78, of Eagle Butte, entered the Spirit World on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at the Cheyenne River Health Care Center. A procession will start at 4:00 PM at the 4 Mile, with a wake service to begin at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at the CRST Bingo Hall in Eagle Butte, SD. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 15, at the CRST Bingo Hall, with Mother Ellen Huber officiating. Following a luncheon burial will take place at the Morgan Family Country Cemetery, 20 miles of SW of Eagle Butte.
Eleanor Mae Miner "Cante Waste Win" was born on July 17, 1945 at Yellow Horse Crossing (White Horse, SD) to Stanley Jewett and Annabell (Thompson) Morgan, the oldest of five girls, Ramona, Edie, Tillie, and Charlene.
Her mother later married Harold Morgan and gained two more sisters Ethel, Willetta, and one brother Harley Morgan.
Eleanor grew up in White Horse, and later the family moved to Cottonwood Creek, south of Eagle Butte.
In 1963, she married Darrell White Eagle, to this union they had a son Daron. 7 years later they had a daughter Dardi Lauris, Dardi passed away when she was 5 months old.
In 1971, she met and married Keith Marshall, to this union five children were born Arden, Laurie, Kari, Charita, and Kevin.
Eleanor lived in Rapid City, and later moved to White Horse, where she met and married Sheldon Miner. They eventually moved to Eagle Butte, where she made her home, until the time of her death.
Eleanor worked at the CRST Elderly Nutrition for several years until her health started to fail. She then retired and after retirement she volunteered at the Old Agency Homeless Shelter for a brief period of time.
Eleanor was all about family and always planned family get togethers. She always made time for all of us. She was the backbone of our family

Eleanor survived by her husband Sheldon Miner, sons Arden Marshall, and Oliver Miner, daughters Laurie, Kari, Charita, Ashley, Emilie, and granddaughter Dardi; Her siblings 6 sisters Ramona McLane, Edie (Thomas) Iron Moccasin,
Tillie (Richard) Charging Eagle, Charlene (Leonard) Anderson, Ethel Morgan, Willetta (Henry) Ducheneaux, and 1 brother Harley (Carol) Morgan; her daughter in law Nora White Eagle, and Nora's children Sherrone, Tatum, Donnilee, Donessa and Jory Kills Spotted.
Eleanor has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and also had many nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
She was proceeded in death by her father Stanley Jewett, her mother
Annabell Morgan, her stepfather Harold Morgan, sons Daron White Eagle, Kevin Marshall, Austin Miner, daughter Dardi Lauris White Eagle, one sister Josephine Jewett, and a brother Terrace Jewett, and a grandson Charles (Chucky) White Eagle.
