Elinor Raike Obituary

Elinor H. Raike, a lifelong resident of New Hope, PA, died Tuesday, July 8, 2025. She was 97 years old.
Elinor was born in New Hope and was a graduate of New Hope High School. She worked for the Lambertville Beacon newspaper for many years as office manager and bookkeeper. After the Beacon ceased publication Elinor was employed in the business office of New Hope-Solebury High School and part time as bookkeeper for furniture maker Robert Whitley in Solebury. Elinor was seldom idle. She later drove a school bus for the New Hope-Solebury school system and most recently for Buckingham Friends School. Elinor enjoyed reading and was an avid traveler. Together with her late husband Norman, she visited almost all 50 states and toured much of Europe. A skilled needle crafter, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Elinor was a long-time member at Thompson Memorial Church in Solebury.
Elinor was the wife of the late Norman T. Raike, the mother of the late Dennis Raike, the daughter of the late John Henry "Harry" and Anna Schluchterer Fischer, and the sister of the late Marie Gulick. She is survived by her daughters Ruth Crews and her husband Thomas of Quakertown, PA and Judith Marro of Marana, AZ; her grandchildren and their spouses Steven Raike, Shawn Crews and his wife Sara, Timothy Crews and his wife Johari, Adam Crews and his wife Christina, and Rachel Crews; her great-grandchildren Tyler, Jackson, Ian, Siobhan and Amalia.
Funeral services are private.
