Elizabeth M. Grant, 84, of Harford, PA, died Saturday, December 14, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Dale T. Grant on September 24, 2021.
Born March 22, 1940 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert "Pat" and Rachel Adams Machell.
Liz grew up in Clifford and was a graduate of Harford High School. She furthered her studies and became a licensed practical nurse having retired from the Barnes Kasson Health Clinic in Lenox. Liz was a 52-year member of the First Congregational Church, Harford, and worked in the secretary and treasurer's office at the Harford Fair along with her husband, who was the fair's treasurer. Liz was a former member and worthy matron of the Prosperity Chapter 83, Order of the Eastern Star.
She found much enjoyment and solace in mowing grass at her home, as well as local airfields and the fairgrounds. Liz's greatest joy in life was being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by three children: Elizabeth O'Neill of Owego, NY, Matthew Tracy and companion, Laura Brochu of Harford, PA, and Mary Tracy and companion, Brendan Joy of Gibson, PA; a step-daughter: Laurie Grant of Harford, PA; three grandchildren: Devin O'Neill and spouse, Danielle, Brianna O'Neill and spouse, Donald Speaker and Kaia O'Neill and spouse, Jess Bennett; three great-grandchildren: Audrey, Theodore and Penelope; three sisters: Margaret Farrell of North Carolina, Alberta Miller of Clifford, PA, and Janice Price of Clifford, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son: James Tracy; two sisters: Frances Kenyon Johnson and Rachel Kochmer; and two brothers: Joseph and William Machell.
The funeral was held Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from the First Congregational Church, 5016 Creek Road, Harford, PA, with Rev. William Hagenbuch, pastor, officiating. Interment, Harford Cemetery, Harford, PA.
Friends called Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church.
