Elmer "Johnny" Waters, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, in Magnolia, Texas.

Born to Earl Waters and Martha Corndowski, Johnny grew up with a fierce independence and adventurous spirit that shaped every chapter of his life. As a teenager, he left home to join the Marines, beginning a journey marked by resilience, grit, and a touch of wild freedom.

He spent most of his adult life in Florida, where he found joy in fast engines and open roads. Whether it was on a motorcycle or behind the wheel of a race car, Johnny loved the thrill of motion and the hum of horsepower. Later in life, he found peace in simpler things - especially mowing the lawn, something he took great pride in. He also had a deep love for animals, especially horses and dogs, and was rarely seen without one of his loyal four-legged companions by his side.

Fifteen years ago, Johnny moved to Texas to help his daughter Julie raise his grandson, Hercules Guillen. It was a role he embraced wholeheartedly, offering steady love, strength, and a legacy that will live on.

He is survived by his daughters: Debbi Schmidt, Micki Silva, Shaun Bustillos, Shari Golden, and Julie Guillen; and his beloved grandson, Hercules Guillen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Waters and Martha Korndowski.

Johnny lived life on his own terms - bold, free-spirited, and deeply loyal. He wasn't loud, but his presence spoke volumes. He will be remembered for his strength, his stories, and the quiet love he gave to those lucky enough to know him.

A private family gathering will be held in his honor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Johnny by doing something he would've loved - take a ride, mow the lawn, spend time with your animals, or simply enjoy a quiet moment in the sun.
