Elvera Ruth Kulas, 95, of Athens, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Athenian Living in Athens under the care of St. Croix Hospice. She was born near Dorchester, WI on July 16, 1929 to the late Otto and Irene Kalepp. Later, on July 24, 1948, Elvera was united in marriage to David A Kulas Sr. in Athens. David preceded her in death on January 18, 2023.
She worked as a dairy wife for many years until their retirement in 2010. They were also well-known for showing draft horses at many of the local fairs for over 40 years.
Survivors include her children, Donna Albrecht, Dianna (Lee) Ziebell, Dave Jr. (Kathy) Kulas, and Mike (Andrea) Kulas; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Bunkelman and Janice Houts; sisters-in law, Karen Kalepp, Kathleen Kulas, and Christine Dassow; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, Otto and Irene Kalepp; step-mother, Florence Kalepp; brother, James Kalepp; sister, Nancy (Bernard) Bunkelman; brothers-in-law, Harold Bunkelman, Russ Bunkelman, Al Houts, Ken Scheffler, Lester Dassow, Sylvester (Geraldine) Kulas, and Ted (Estella) Kulas; son-in-law, Tom Albrecht Sr; and father and mother-in-law, John and Rose Kulas.
A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens, with Rev. Mark Schwarz officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Athens Lutheran Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.
