Elvin Lee Barron, 89, a resident of Smithdale, MS passed away on July 27, 2025 at the Aston Court Retirement Community in McComb, MS surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Thompson Baptist Church from 10 AM until services at 11 AM. Rev. Jim Bradford will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Elvin was born on June 18, 1936 in Smithdale, MS., to the late Tim M. and Rubye Wilkinson Barron. Elvin retired as an Industrial Engineer, he served in the U.S. Air Force, a graduate of Mississippi State and was life long member of Thompson Baptist Church. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying football. He also enjoyed farming, the outdoors and was proud of his lawn. His proudest enjoyment was watching and being with his grandchildren. He was a founding member of Grumpy Old Men Walking Club, in which they walked up to three miles a day. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Danny Dunnam and one brother, James Earl Barron. He is survived by his loving wife of forty nine happy years, Marilyn Coward Barron, two sons, Keith A. Dunnam (Connie) and James Michael Dunnam (Stephanie), eight grandchildren, Boyd Dunnam (Brooke), Brooke Toler (Slade), Kellie Dunnam, Casie Vincent, Jason Byrd (Becky), Amanda Cook, John Barron Dunnam (Emily), Meghan Dunnam with a host of great-grandchildren, a special niece Kristi Barron with numerous other nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Boyd Dunnam, Trent Barron, Slade Toler, Dan Morgan, Donald O'Brien and Jimmy Dykes. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Grumpy Old Men Walking Club. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Paul Dykes, Deaconess Hospice and the whole staff of Aston Court. In Lieu of flowers donations may made to Thompson Baptist Church at 5422 North Greensburg Rd. Smithdale, MS 39664
