Elvira Coy, 104, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Elvira was born in NYC in 1920 and raised there by her adopted parents, Emil and Mary (Cassella) D'Agostino. Her parents were Italian immigrants and naturalized US citizens. She moved to Whiting, NJ in 1977 with her late husband Joseph Coy where she had resided until her death. Her daughter, Frances Coy Spencer, passed away in 1983.
Elvira was a devout Catholic and went to mass daily into her 90s until no longer able to drive there on her own.
Elvira is survived by her grandsons, Kevin Spencer, Timothy Spencer and Jeffrey Spencer, and her son-in-law Howard Spencer and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Kevin and his wife Angela's son Dylan as well as Timothy and his wife Brittney's daughter Lucille and son Montgomery.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, July 9 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 66 Lacey Road, Manchester Township, NJ 08759. A funeral service will take place at 12:00pm. Burial will immediately follow at Whiting Memorial Park, Whiting, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
