Emerson's Life
Emerson James Cottman, more lovingly known as Easy "E", was a resident of Princess Anne, Maryland. He peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on April 2, 2025 at Tidal Health in Salisbury, Maryland at the age of seventy-four (74). He was born on May 27, 1951 in Princess Anne, Maryland to the late Mary Cannon and Albert Cottman.
He received his education in the Somerset County School System up to the 11th grade, when he was drafted into the Military. During his time of service, he fought in the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. He also worked at various places such as Campbell Soup, Six L's, Tommy White's Farm, Clam Factory, Greenwood Middle School, Chesapeake Waste, T & T Trucking and the Town of Princess Anne.
Emerson leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of forty-eight (48) years, Gloria Cottman of Princess Anne, Maryland; three children, Nicole Cottman and Takesha Cottman, both of Princess Anne, Maryland and Angela White (Leroy) of Pittsville, Maryland; one grandson, Charles Fisher of Princess Anne, Maryland; extended grandchildren, Tamar Hodges and Taraji Sellers of Virginia, Ziyliah Hodges of Princess Anne, Maryland, Keisha Dale (Daquan) of Annapolis, Maryland, Lequiesha Hodges and Keyra Harrell, both of Pittsville, Maryland and Jac'queline Hernandez of Princess Anne, Maryland; two great grandchildren, Kyrie Dale and Azhuri Dale, both of Annapolis, Maryland; three sisters, Arlene Cottman and Lillie Beckett, both of Princess Anne, Maryland and Molly Ward of Fruitland, Maryland and a host of loving nieces, nephews and kind friends.
In addition to his parents, Emerson was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert Cottman (aka Buck) and Oscar Cottman (aka Bunky Boy), two sisters, Sarfrancis Spence and Josephine Smith, one niece, Francis Spence and three nephews, Rod Spence, James Smith III and Adrien Spence.
