In honor of Emmy's great love of her favorite color blue, the family encourages everyone wear blue.
Emerson Lueking, 6, of
Oxford, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in the comfort of her family, at Children's Nebraska Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Emerson was born on June 24, 2018, in Holdrege and then spent her first several months in the Children's Hospital NICU. She was the younger of two daughters, born to Taylor and Jordan (Zahm) Lueking. She was baptized at Children's Hospital and St. John's Lutheran Church, and was currently attending kindergarten at Southern Valley Public Schools.
Emerson had a larger-than-life personality, which is what she will be most remembered for by everyone who knew her. She lived each day to the fullest. Emerson had a smile that lit up any room she walked into. Her sweet little voice always had a story or joke to tell, to make sure to keep her family and friends laughing.
Emmy's most favorite thing in the world was to make everyone laugh. Emmy had the best belly laugh giggle, that she was widely known for. Emmy's favorite phrase after a laugh or anything was to say, "Well, that went well." Emerson was the most kind, sweet, loving, compassionate, and silly little girl. One thing everyone could count on is that Emmy had a hug ready for them every day.
Emmy could always be found spending time with her sister and best friend, Sage, as they had an inseparable bond. You could most often find them carrying each other around. Emmy's biggest passions were dance and gymnastics. You could always find her and Sage doing a cartwheel, handstand, or doing a little booty shake no matter where they were. Emmy loved being outside whether it was jumping on the trampoline, going for a golf cart ride, swimming, or swinging. She had a love for golfing at the course, but especially loved Top Golf with her family. Emmy loved watching a good movie, and could most often be found daily with ice cream or popcorn. Emmy also really loved anything Lilo & Stitch or Winnie the Pooh. She especially loved sleep overs at both her grandparent's house and spending time with nana after school. Emmy's favorite part of the day was morning snuggles with mama and daddy.
Emmy loved attending school. She had a huge heart and loved all her friends in her kindergarten class and had a special bond with her teachers. Emmy's classmates say that it was her daily mission to make the whole class laugh, so she would do a gorilla walk to and from class. As the class clown, she loved to get up from the lunch table do a little dance, shake her booty, then stick her tongue out until the entire class was laughing and then she would sit down smiling. Hence, why she loved being called silly goose. Emmy loved singing songs from her school program as well, especially her favorite, Unwritten.
There was one thing Emmy took great pride in and that was her sheep showmanship skills. She has been working with her lamb and buddy, Lilo. They have been going to sheep shows, and although she may only be half the size of the lamb, Lilo knows who is boss. Emmy lights up the show ring. The second she walks in the judge and everyone ring side can't help but smile at that cute little curly blonde-haired girl in piggy tails with an ear-to-ear grin & the best eye contact you've ever seen. She thought all shows should judge pee-wee showmanship, because she felt sure she would win, as she was one of the very few 6 year-olds who didn't want their parent to walk in the ring with them. She felt very confident her and Lilo had it. Emmy was very proud of her very first belt buckle she received, which she liked to say was as big as her face. Emmy thoroughly enjoyed spending her time on the farm, and if you asked her she was going to be a police officer someday and a farmer with Dad & Grandpa. Emmy enjoyed going on ranger and four-wheeler rides, sitting in the tractor, especially the combine, and riding her horse Knox. She for sure was a "Yee Haw" cowgirl.
Emerson was preceded in death by her great-grandparents: Robert "Cork" and Sharon Lueking; Jack Boehler; Denny Teig; and Don and Mary Ann Zahm. As well as her very beloved dog, Walter.
Emerson is survived by her parents: Taylor and Jordan Lueking; and sister, Sage Lueking, all of Oxford; grandparents: John and Kim Lueking of Oxford; and Tim and Kelly Zahm of Osceola, Nebraska; aunt and uncles: Darcy (Ross) Bahensky of Kearney, Nebraska; and Jake Zahm of Osceola; great-grandparents: Pat Teig of Shelby, Nebraska; and Jan Boehler of Omaha, Nebraska; her cousins; Georgie and Leo Bahensky; an honorary Nana, Patty Kier of
Oxford, Nebraska; and God-parents; Ryan and Nataly Sanley of Osceola; as well as, many great-aunts and great-uncles, cousins, family, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford.
