Erich G. Tessman, age 60 of Cottage Grove, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by his family on July 7, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Lee Elm; and brother-in-law, Mike Miller.
Erich is survived by his wife of 35 years, MaryAnn; children, Nick (Megan) Tessman and Erica (Drew) Senarighi; 3 grandchildren, Emerson, Blake, and Easton; parents Jerry and Gail Tessman; siblings Vicky Miller and Beth (Keith) Clark; cousin, Bill (Carol) Tessman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graduate of NEI Institute (’88) A.S. in Electronic Engineering, Erich worked for Hamernick’s Decorating, Ameritek International, and MTS Systems. He was an avid golfer, bowler, road trip taker, and game player. He was an excellent handyman who knew his way around a workbench, and was always willing to offer a hand whenever anyone asked. More than anything, Erich was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who was passionate about his family. He was always there to offer guidance, love, great bear hugs, and a hearty laugh. He greatly enjoyed summers and celebrations at his family’s lake home in Amery, Wisconsin. He was a premier pontoon captain that family and friends will always remember for hilarious stories, good tunes, and shared laughter.
Erich’s generosity as a human being extended beyond what our eyes could see and even as he left us, he was able to give the life-changing gift of his kidneys to a 61-year-old male and a 44-year-old female. Additionally, he gave other life-saving gifts that will improve the quality of life of their recipients.
Celebration of life for Erich will take place at Keller Golf Course, 2168 Maplewood Drive, Maplewood, MN on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM, with lunch to follow. The family invites you to bring a memory, story or moment that captures the spirit of Erich.
