Ernest James Miller, a cherished member of our community and a dedicated auto mechanic, passed away on June 20, 2025, in Mamou, Louisiana. Born on July 10, 1964, in Iota, Louisiana, Ernest is remembered as a loving father and an enthusiastic tinkerer who found joy in both his work and in nurturing those he loved.
Having received his education from local schools, Ernest excelled not only in his studies but also in his craft as a mechanic, where he skillfully repaired vehicles and left his mark on the many lives he touched through his hands-on work. His passion for tinkering extended beyond the garage; he was always eager to share his knowledge and lend a helping hand to friends and family alike.
Ernest's unconditional love and support for his sons, Justin and Elliot Miller, were the cornerstones of his life. He took great pride in their accomplishments and was always there to offer guidance and encouragement. His warmth and compassion extended beyond his immediate family, as he built lasting relationships with friends and loved ones in his community.
Ernest is survived by his beloved girlfriend, Linda Soileau, whose love and partnership brought him joy and companionship. He also leaves behind his brothers, Marcus, Michael, and Charles Miller, along with his sisters, Mary Ann Janise and Marietta Taylor. Each of them holds cherished memories of their time together, a testament to the love that bound this family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Sr. and Rose Miller, and his brother, Rufus Paul Miller Jr. Their nurturing presence in his life laid the groundwork for the man he became, and they will always be remembered in the stories he shared and the lessons he imparted.
Visitation will take place at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Iota on June 24, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on June 25, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. A Mass honoring Ernest's life will be celebrated on June 25, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota at 10:00 AM.
As we gather to remember Ernest, we hold onto the legacy of love, strength, and kindness that he so generously shared with us all. He may be gone from our sight, but he will forever remain in our hearts.
