COLEBROOK – Ethel A. Goodrum, 86, of Colebrook passed away at the home of her daughter in Gorham, N.H., on Friday, June 13, 2025, after a long period of ill health and with her family by her side.
She was born in West Stewartstown on July 22, 1938, a daughter to the late Wesley and Myrtle (Shaw) Mills.
Ethel worked for many years at plywood mill in North Stratford and later at the Tillotson Rubber Co. in Dixville. She was a proud member of the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary for many years, supporting her husband and local veterans.
She loved to attend the community suppers, visiting with her friends and neighbors, and she enjoyed going to the First Baptist Church in North Stratford, and attending the church's penny sales. Ethel was also an animal lover. She loved to travel around to yard sales and the local thrift stores. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she loved her pets, especially her dog, Aloe, and her kitty, Shadow.
Ethel is survived by her seven children, Earl Goodrum of Milan, N.H., Robin McAlister of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., Eva Guy of Colebrook, Dorothy Uran and her partner Albert Riff of Bloomfield, Vt., Ernest Goodrum and his partner Carol Hodge of Colebrook, Hope Lashua of Plymouth, N.H., and Kristey Goodrum and her wife Elizabeth of Gorham, N.H.; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Bernard Goodrum in 2011; a daughter, Sandra Covell in 1980; two brothers, Waldo and Albert Mills; and four sisters, Eva Stevens, Mary Phillips, Virginia Crawford and Dot Jesseman.
Calling hours will be at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 10 a.m. until Noon with a funeral service to follow at the funeral home at Noon. An interment service will then follow in the Colebrook Village Cemetery.
