Ethel Mamie (Wiebusch) McCollum passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at McIntosh Senior Living in McIntosh, MN.
Ethel was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and lifelong dedication to those she loved. Her warmth and kindness touched the hearts of many, and her legacy will live on in the countless lives she influenced.
A lifelong resident of Bagley, Minnesota, Ethel was baptized on November 27, 1927, in Georgetown, Minnesota, and confirmed on June 8, 1947, at Grace Lutheran Church in Solway, Minnesota, a testament to the deep and enduring faith that guided her throughout her life.
She began her education at Moose Corner Country School, attending grades one through eight, and continued her studies at Bagley High School, graduating with the Class of 1946.
From 1975 to 1985, Ethel and her husband, Don, were proud co-owners of Bagley Cleaners, where they served the community with dedication and care.
A devoted member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ethel was active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), faithfully served on the altar guild, and taught Sunday school for over 30 years, sharing her faith and love with generations of children.
Ethel had a remarkable talent for handwork and creativity. She found great joy in quilting blankets and table runners, and in crocheting delicate roses and doilies. She was also an outstanding seamstress and loved to sew, blessing her family and friends with many beautifully crafted items made with love and care.
Her loving children survive her: Joan (Alden) Hough of Bagley, Minnesota: Mike (Susan) McCollum of Buffalo, Wyoming; Gloria Anderson of Brookings, South Dakota; Margie McCormick of Bagley, Minnesota; Carl (Debbie) McCollum of Bagley, Minnesota; Ron (Julie) McCollum of Shevlin, Minnesota; David (Deanna) McCollum of
Shevlin, Minnesota
22 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 40 great-great-grandchildren.
Her sister also survives her- Doris Tibbetts of Bemidji, Minnesota, and her brother, Floyd "Mike" (Lou Ann) Wiebusch of Bagley, Minnesota.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Allen McCollum, in 1998; sons-in-law Wm. Keith McCormick in 2001 and Hyle Rogal Anderson in 2021; two sisters, Evie and Elaine; and a great-great-granddaughter, Gabriela in 2010
.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 10:00 am, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Reverend Bruce Blocker officiating. A prayer service will take place on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
Ethel will be laid to rest at Moose Creek Cemetery in Shevlin, Minnesota.
She will be dearly missed and forever cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
