Euripides 'Rip' Alvarado-Ortiz Jr., 77, of Green Bay, WI passed quietly and comfortably at home on 4/14/2025.
Rip was born May 8, 1947 in Coamo, Puerto Rico, son of Euripides Alvarado Sr. and Celia Maria Alvarado Ortiz. Rip moved to the mainland with his family as a young child spending the majority of his life in Milwaukee before settling in Green Bay, WI.
Rip is survived by his wife, Doreen Brewer and their four children: Anthony (Shelby and 2 grandsons Landyn and Archer), Christopher (2 granddaughters Aurelia and Scarlett), Sandy Ann, Lisa (fiancee Omar); Daughter Jessie (Jeff, and grandchildren Mitch, Reece, Natalee, and great-granddaughter MayLee), and "adopted" daughter Hanh Hong Dao. He is also survived by his mother Celia and Alvarado siblings Adalia, Nancy, Thomas, and numerous neices and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his father Euripides Alvarado Sr., and Alvarado sisters Enaida and Liduvina.
Rip did two active duty tours with the Army in Vietnam and completed his military service with the 432nd Civil Affairs Co. (USAR). Rip spent the majority of his working life at the Green Bay Correctional Institute retiring at 50 to be a stay at home Dad for his children which was the job he loved the most.
Rip was an avid boater and car enthusiast. He had a passion for sustainability and put together a photovoltaic system (15,300W) using scrap metal and recycled solar panels (2008). The system continues to generate electricity after 17 years. In addition he DYI'd a solar heating assist for his furnace using vacuum tubes and other recycled materials to further prove that there are things individuals can do to save energy, reduce costs, and help the environment. He was extremely proud of those accomplishments.
Per Rip's request, the family will celebrate his life with a Viking funeral on Sunday 5/25/2025 from 1-4 PM at:

Vikings believed in the afterlife. Please join the family to give Rip a proper send-off. The burning of the "ship" will take place at 2:30 PM. Viking attire is encouraged.
