Farris Childers, age 82, of Louisville, Ky returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 13, 2025, with his family by his side. Farris was born in Hindman, Kentucky on October 4, 1942, to the late Arnold Childers and Sylvia (Slone) Childers. He retired from Ford Motor Company KTP Plant after 30 years of service, he was a proud Veteran who served in the United States Army, he enjoyed sports of all kinds but truly loved watching the University of Kentucky play basketball. Farris liked to hunt, sit on his front porch, spend time with his family, loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren he was a true family man. He was a loving and devoted husband, dad, and Pa. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Grover and Oliver Childers, one sister Ena Faye Mullins, one daughter Sondra Blankenship.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Pat Childers, son Kevin Thornberry, three grandchildren Aaron Blankenship (Gregori), Taylor Thornberry, Madison Thornberry, three great-grandchildren Carson, Jackson, and Emerson Blankenship, brother Charles Ray Childers (Vicki), Darrell Childers. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.
A Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, at John Harper Freeway). The visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Brookland Ceme
