Florence C. Drees, age 95, of Trenton, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at Breese Nursing Home. She was born December 21, 1929, in Trenton, a daughter of the late Sylvester and Catherine (nee Albers) Spihlmann.
In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew "Red" Drees, whom she married September 13, 1950, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton and who died December 17, 1997; daughters, Mary Jo Baumgartner and Linda (Marvin "Pop") Netemeyer; son-in-law, Mike Heil; grandsons, Jason Niemann and Randy Ruth; siblings, Paul (Pat) Spihlmann, Jim (Shirley) Spihlmann, Bernida (Ed) Rodgers; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Minnie (nee Overberg) Drees.
Florence is survived by her children, Mike (Marilyn) Drees of Aviston, Karen (John) Niemann of Breese, Pat (Ed) Niemann of Breese, Jerry (Susie) Drees of Trenton, Bob (Inez) Drees of Collinsville, Dan (Okie) Drees of Clarksville, TN, Jane Heil of Trenton, and Donna (Jim) Markus Aviston; son-in-law, Paul Baumgartner of Troy; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Florence dedicated her life to her family. She was a woman of deep faith and was a dedicated member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality in Trenton, as well as St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers. She was formerly a member of the Trenton V.F.W. Auxiliary Unit 7983, and current member of the Mascoutah V.F.W. Auxiliary Unit 7682 and the Albers American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1026.
Florence found joy in life's simple pleasures-completing Seek and Find puzzles, reading, playing bingo, and watching game shows. She loved vacationing and, most of all, treasured the time spent with her beloved family.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton with Fr. George Zieba presiding. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers.
