Frances Johnson Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Ellen Johnson, who departed this world on June 23, 2025, peacefully from natural causes. Ellen was born on February 13, 1948, in Newnan, Georgia, and she spent her life surrounded by the love of family and friends in Roanoke, Alabama.Ellen was a devoted wife to her husband, Kendrick "Rick" Johnson, and a cherished mother to her children: daughter Julie (Darren) Dean, sons Randy (Brenda) Haynes and David (Courtney) Haynes, and stepchildren Tanya Anderson and Pamela Vergato. Her legacy will live on through her beloved grandsons Chris Haynes and Josh Herrera, and granddaughters Cassie Herrera, Lili Haynes, Maggie Haynes, Selena Vergato, Ali Vergato, and Taylor Rogers; great-grandchildren Bryson, Aiden, Claire, and Colt Rogers. Ellen is also survived by her sister, Susan (Frank) Payton, and brother, Danny (Allison) Cofield, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.Professionally, Ellen dedicated many years of her life to her role as a Medical Records Specialist in the medical field, where her meticulous nature and caring spirit shone bright.Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ellen was a woman of many passions. She loved working in the yard, creating beautiful landscapes that her family and neighbors cherished. She enjoyed camping trips with her loved ones, relishing the tranquility of nature. Fishing was another of her beloved activities, often viewed as a peaceful respite where she could reflect and connect with her environment. Ellen also delighted in shopping, always on the lookout for the perfect gift or a little treasure for her family.Most importantly, Ellen loved being with her family. She understood the value of togetherness and left behind a rich tapestry of memories that will be treasured by everyone who knew her.In honor of her life, a Funeral Service will be held at McKoon Funeral Home Chapel on July 12, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Stoney Halsey officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the service time.Her kind heart and warm smile will be profoundly missed but will live on in the hearts and memories of those she touched.Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. Cofield and Margaret Cofield, and siblings Patricia Stancill, Ronnie Stancill, and Randall Cofield
