Frank Phillips Obituary

Frank G. Phillips, Jr.

Jul 11, 1940 - May 6, 2025

On May 6, 2025, Frank G. Phillips, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed peacefully on to Glory at the age of 84 years. He was surrounded by his family.

Frank was born in Groesbeck, Texas on July 11, 1940, the son of Frank and Nina Phillips. He was welcomed by six sisters.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Wade Funeral Home Chapel in Hubbard, Texas with Rev. Ricky Woodall and Steve Putman officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery near Dawson.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia, a son, Lane Phillips and wife Audra, a daughter, Lori Clemons, two grandsons, Dave Clemons and Casey Phillips, two granddaughters, Laura Farmer and husband Lee, and Emily Taylor, five great-grandchildren, Easton, Riley, Jace, Paxtyn, and Elowyne, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Preceding Frank in death were his parents, his sisters and husbands, Thelma, Estelle, Ruby, Margie, Doris and Minnie, his son in law, Jerry Clemons, and many nieces and nephews.

Frank accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young teenager and was baptized at Memorial Baptist Church in Waco by Rev, A. Myers who also officiated at his marriage. He and Pat are longtime members of First Baptist Church in Hubbard.

Frank began work at an early age. His first job was as a door to door donut salesman. Next he had a daily newspaper route. At age 14 he was hired as a sack boy at HEB in Waco. Over the years he worked his way up to Store Director. After 25 years, he left HEB to own a small chain of Jiffy Mart Convenience Stores with the help of Pat, Lori and Lane. During this same period he was the owner and operator of Phillips Fixture Company, designing and building grocery and convenience stores.

He sold his stores and retired in 2005.

For 20 years Frank enjoyed his retirement with Pat by raising cattle, showing their 1957 Chevy, driving his tractor, traveling in their RV, spending time with and loving their Grands and Great-Grands, always trying to keep their yard, pasture and buildings neat and clean.

Pallbearers will be Bill Chapman, James Eakins, Reid Gentry, Brian Maddox, Paul Morris and John Ramonte.

Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Brown, Joe Carpenter, Ray Dobbs, Wayne Kilgo, Lyle Scholten and Glenn Wallace.

If you should choose to do so, memorials may be made to FBC Building Fund, P.O. Box 176, Hubbard, TX 76648 or the American Cancer Society, 1-800-227-2345.

Frank and I were friends working at H.E.B.#1 in Waco along with several other
great lifelong friends. I always liked and respected him.
May he rest in peace with our Lord Jesus . My prayers are with Patricia and the family.

Pat, been a long time but remember visiting you two, fishing in the pond and pulling for the young Dallas Cowboys. Frank was a great guy, friend to all he met. May he rest in Heavenly Peace.
