Franklin William Flying Horse Jr, 55, Journeyed peacefully to the Spirit World on July 1, 2025, at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls surrounded by his family.
Frank Flying Horse Jr was born to Violet Hollow and Frank Flying Horse Sr on September 7, 1969. He was raised with Love by Charles and Bertha Mutchler near Bullhead, SD. After Charles and Bertha's passing, he was taken in by Delores Long Elk whom he lovingly knew as Mom.
He attended school on Standing Rock Reservation then, High School in Bismarck, ND. In 1989 Frank went to Job Corps in Clearfield, UT. In 1990 he met Donna Yager at this Job Corps and went on to live with her in Madison, SD. There they together made a home and family, having 3 beautiful children, Marlena, Jon and Shayna. Donna's family became his extended family where gained a new set of parents and a sister and brother that loved him as their own. He never called Donna's parents by their given names, it was always "Mom and Dad" and they in turn always referred to him as "Son".
Frank worked for several companies in and around Madison and everywhere he worked he made new friends. He always made the work place a fun place to be. His favorite job was working for Mustang Seeds in Madison. They treated him like family.
Frank loved to ride motorcycles and just cruise around in his trucks and listen to music. He loved to hang out with his kids and Grandkids and joke and laugh with them. He also loved to hang out with his buddies getting into all kinds of shenanigans and just making everyone smile and laugh. His sense of humor was next to none. His son Jonathon recalls one of his famous silly quotes "I only feel freedom at 35 miles per hour".
Frank is survived by his best friend and Mother of his children, Donna, his children, Marlena (John), Jonathon and Shayna and a daughter Jaychelle, his grandchildren, Peyton, Piper, Paxton, Evan, Emmett and EivaLynn, sister Michelle, brother Elmer, sister, Diane (Jeff) Scales, brother Rick Yager, his bonus parents, Lee and Karen Yager, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his Father, Frank Flying Horse Sr, his Grandparents Charles and Bertha Mutchler, his Mom, Delores Long Elk, his son, Evan Long Feather, his Grandson Dominic Spotted Horse, his cousins Owen and Fern Fightslone and too many uncles, aunties and loved ones to count.
Frank loved with all his heart. He had a smile that lit up the world. He was loved by so many, everyone that was lucky enough to meet him. He will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Madison, SD at the VFW on July 26th at 1 pm until close.
