Fred Earl "Freddy" Kirchner, of Antioch, WV, a devoted family man, avid outdoorsman, and passionate vintage car and tractor collector and restorer, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on July 31, 2025, at UPMC Western Maryland in Cumberland, MD.

Born on June 30, 1941, in Pennsylvania, Freddy was the beloved son of the late Earl Albert "Shorty" Kirchner and Mamie Dorothy (Nauman) Kirchner.

Known as a hardworking and dedicated individual, Freddy was the proud owner and operator of B.K. Utilities. His commitment to his work was matched only by his love for his hobbies. Freddy was a member of the Lodge # 662, Loyal Order of Moose in Keyser, WV. He cherished the great outdoors, with a special fondness for farming, hunting, and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. His passion for vintage vehicles was evident in his extensive collection, with a particular attachment to his 1962 Dodge.

Fred leaves behind a loving family, including his cherished wife of 62 years, Betsy M. (Byrne) Kirchner; his devoted daughters, Kelly Kirchner of Severna Park, MD, and Holly Brown and her husband William of Pasadena, MD; his adored grandson, Austin Brown and his wife Gabrielle; his treasured great-grandson, Jaxon Brown; and his sister, Alison "Bunny" Bunting of Antioch, WV. Freddy will also be missed by his nephew, Moses Bunting and his wife Melissa of Antioch.

At Freddy's request, there will be no visitation or services. His life will be commemorated with a Celebration of Life to be held at his farm with dates and times to be announced. He will be remembered for his warm smile, his love for life, and his dedication to his family and friends.

The Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Keyser, WV, is in charge of the arrangements.

My sincere condolences to your family. Freddy was such a great man. He and my dad were friends from childhood. The laughs and fond memories of him will always be with us. I will always remember how he talked about Betsy and his family with such deep, devoted love.
