Goldsboro - God in his infinite wisdom, saw fit to take from this world, the soul of Deacon Freddie Williams, 90, on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro, NC. The celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 1:00pm with a viewing from 12:00pm to 12:50pm at St. Mark Church of Christ, DOC - Faro, 893 Lanetown Road, Stantonsburg, NC. He will be laid to rest at the Fremont Cemetery, 174 Winding Branch Avenue, Fremont, NC. Deacon Freddie Williams Sr. was born to Willie Williams & Essie Simmons on July 27, 1934 in Lenoir County, NC. He became a faithful and dedicated member of St. Mark Disciple of Christ, Faro, NC. He served as a deacon for many years, until his health declined. He was employed at DC General Hospital, Washington, DC, as a boiler engineer and retired with 35+ years. In addition, he relocated to Goldsboro, NC and worked part-time at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Wages. Deacon Freddie is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Willie and Mrs. Essie Williams, two sons: Freddie Jr. and Kenneth Williams; three brothers: James, Willie Jr. and Franklin Roosevelt and two sisters: Lillian Ardell and Mary. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 70 years, Helen Williams, his sons: Edward Williams (Cheryl) of York, PA and Bishop Larry Williams (Jennifer) of Martinsburg, WV; four daughters: Phyllis Manigault of Columbia, SC, Brenda DeCurtis of Columbus, Ohio, Denise Dixon (Jan) of Palmyra, PA and Veleda Williams-Haggins of Washington, DC; four sisters: Ms. Annie Yelverton of Goldsboro, NC, Ms. Margaret Williams of Raleigh, NC, Ms. Beatrice Darden of Bryans Road, MD, and Ms. Essie M. Jones of Brandywine, MD; one brother-in-law, Leon Ray of Temple Hill, MD and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Smith (Kelly) of Snow Hill, NC; 25 Grandchildren and 18 Great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family. Please keep the family in your prayers during their time of bereavement. Services of caring, compassionate and distinguished class has been entrusted to management and staff of J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations.
