Frederick O. Rehagen, age 77, of
Westphalia, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Boone Hospital in Columbia surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 12, 1948, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Otto Rehagen and Lucia (Lucy) Herx. Fred graduated from Fatima High School in 1966 and married the love of his life, Margaret Rehagen, on February 15, 1975, in Westphalia.
Fred proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1968, with assignments in Da Nang Vietnam, Amarillo Air Force Base, McChord Air Force Base, and San Antonio, Texas. He remained a proud member of the American Legion throughout his life. He was also a lifetime member of the St. Joesph Catholic church of Westphalia.
Fred's hard-working nature and deep connection to agriculture guided much of his life. From 1969 to 1980, he worked at Der Val Farms before establishing and operating his own cattle and turkey farm beginning in 1991. In 2001, he became co-owner of Diamond R Equipment, continuing his dedication to the farming community. Earlier in life, he also worked as a pressman for the News Tribune for ten years.
Fred especially enjoyed working on machinery- whether it was maintaining farm equipment, fine-tuning engines, or solving mechanical problems, he took pride in keeping things running and passing that knowledge on to others. He loved learning about all things, history and enjoyed museums and caves.
Fred was a longtime member of the Lions Club and was known for his steadfast commitment to family, farming, and service. He was also an avid fan of his kids and grandchildren's sports.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Rehagen; his children, James O. Rehagen (Trisha) of Freeburg, Marcie A. Struemph (Jerry) of Freeburg, Angela M. Rehagen (Michael Roach) of Jefferson City, and David E. Rehagen (Bridget) of Freeburg; his siblings, Mary Frank of Jefferson City, Evelyn Schulte of Argyle, and Helen Sanning of Taos; Sister-in-law Theresa Rehagen of Freeburg; and his grandchildren, Conner, Paige, and Chase Rehagen, Sam and Anna Struemph, Nate, Nora and Benny Rehagen, and Aubrey, Preston and Allison Roach.
