It is with much sadness that our family announce the peaceful passing of our mother, G. Arlene Kornbau, age 97, on Friday July 11, 2025, in Chandler, Arizona, formerly of Leetonia.
Arlene was born on March 18,1928 in Salem to Harry E Clark and Bertha Clark of Apache Junction, Arizona. She was a graduate of Leetonia High School in 1946 and received her Bachelor and Master's Degree in Education, at Youngstown State University. She was an active member of the Leetonia United Methodist church in Leetonia prior to moving to Arizona. In Arizona, she was an active member of the Sun Lakes Baptist Church in Sun Lakes, Arizona.
Arlene is survived by her four children, Linda (John) Vrabel of Chandler, AZ, Terry (Sue) Kornbau of Salem, James (Rita) Kornbau of Coquille, OR, and Maureen (Tim) Dickey of Salem. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. A fourth great great granddaughter is due in August.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 78 years, Robert, her parents, Harry and Bertha Clark, and 2 sisters, Lorna Hilliard and Marjorie Martin.
Our mother was a dedicated educator who touched countless lives. Her family, friendships, and students encompassed all aspects of her life and each were special to her.
Her unwavering faith guided her life. Up until the end our mother maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, and love for her family and friends. She often expressed gratitude for her long life full of wonderful travel and varied experiences.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy, and they felt that in the love and support she gave. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends.
There will be a memorial service in the future to celebrate both our parent's lives.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
