Gale Austin Janes, age 74, of Marionville, Missouri, went to be with the Lord at 10:09 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 11, 1950, in Aurora, Missouri, the son of Howard and Virginia (Hood) Janes.
Gale was a 1968 graduate of Marionville High School and was a United States Army Veteran, who proudly served in the Vietnam War. After returning from the service, he worked for Lily-Tulip Cup Corporation in Springfield, Missouri. Gale was a member of the National Rifle Association, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and being outdoors with his friends and family.
On June 7, 1969, he married his beloved wife, Barbara Lou Rodgers, in Aurora, Missouri.
Gale is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara; two daughters, Jenny Coyle and Heather Edwards; four grandchildren, Audrey Brown, Ian Vodden, Charli Larkin, and Julian Vodden; two great-grandchildren, Jamie Gale Larkin (who was named in his honor) and Destin Jude Vodden; two sisters, Kathy Mahurin and Roxanne Owens; one sister-in-law, Darlene Janes, and several nieces and nephews.
Gale was preceded in death by his parents, Howard, and Virginia; brother, Landon Janes; sister,
Judy Janes; brother-in-law, Sam Mahurin, and nephew, Bruce Gardner.
A graveside service under the direction of Williams Funeral Home, in Marionville, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Ruckman Cemetery.
