Gary Dean Harris, a lifelong resident of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at the age of 82. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Gary was known for his sharp wit, generous heart, and the gift of bringing laughter into every room he entered.
Born in Oklahoma City on December 29, 1942, to Pete and Marion Harris, Gary spent his life building strong roots in his hometown. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and went on to become a skilled electrical contractor. In 1984, he founded Harris Electric Inc., which he owned and operated for nearly four decades until his retirement in 2023. His dedication to his craft and to his customers earned him respect and admiration in the community.
Gary had a passion for motorcycles and boats, enjoying the freedom and fun they brought him throughout his life. But above all, he loved his family deeply and cared for them with unwavering loyalty and warmth. He was a constant source of strength, humor, and support to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Harris; son, Scott Harris and his wife Julie, and their children, Dylan and Hannah, along with her husband Clayton; son, Mike Bast and his wife Annie, and their daughters, Avrill and Ariana; along with several nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Marion Harris; his sisters, Vicki Nelson and Joyce Lively; and his daughter, Marcie Harris-Isaacson.
Those who knew Gary will remember him for his quick wit, his talent for fixing just about anything, and his eagerness to help anyone in need. Whether cracking a joke, lending a hand, or lighting up a room with his personality, Gary made a lasting impression that will never be forgotten.
A service to celebrate Gary's life will be held at 11:30am on Friday, July 11 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service Chapel, 3925 N Asbury Avenue, Bethany, OK. The family will receive guests just prior to the service, beginning at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Gary by helping someone in need-just as he would have done.

I remember Gary from Putnam City High School. He was a great electrician and helped many with their electrical needs. May God be with the family during this difficult time.
