His special interests included golfing, bowling, fishing, dancing at sock hops, riding his motorcycle and driving his cars, especially his GTO's. Gary was always ready for a card game. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing Santa at Christmas time and of course, he enjoyed cooking with a passion and loved making people happy with his cooking.

In his later years, he co-owned/operated The Old Store in Frankville, IA, and a small candy route in the Northeast IA. More recently, Gary and his special friend Diane (Leiran) Rathbun enjoyed short day-trip car rides, spending time together and eating out at the local restaurants.

My condolences to his friends and family. I still remember him helping me with a stuck car years ago and when I forgot my wallet at A&W. I came back to pay him, and he said that I was a good customer, and it was on the house. R.I.P.
