Gary Lee Trout, 78, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away on July 12, 2025 at his home with his family by his side. He was born March 2, 1947 in McLeansboro, IL to the late Benjamin and Betty (Tweedy) Trout.
Gary proudly served in the Indiana National Guard and retired as a welder from Frontier Kemper Contractors after 35 years of service. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors fishing, hunting, and playing golf, as well as bowling with friends. One of his favorite pastimes was playing guitar alongside his brother-in-law, Mike Stern.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Slygh.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathy (Grant) Trout; daughters, Lori Carr (Paul Crabtree) and Jennifer Trout; grandchildren, Kort Potter, Zane Spivey, Chase Rollins, Jordan and Lauren Carr; brother, David Trout (Judy); and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethesda General Baptist Church, 1600 Savah Rd., Mt. Vernon, IN 47620.
