Gary L. Wand, age 79, of Warren, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the Lena Living Center in Lena, IL. The son of Elmer and Janice (Doubler) Wand, he was born on June 22, 1945, in Apple River, IL. Gary proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War and later joined the Gratiot VFW. He was a lifelong farmer working alongside Johnny Bussman for many years. If he wasn't farming you could often find Gary hunting for arrowheads, working on a crossword puzzle, partaking in little gambling, buying a lottery ticket and enjoying a cold beer.
Gary is survived by his 4 children- Tracy (Denny Sigafus) Williams of Warren, IL, J.C. Wand of Omaha, NE, Jamie Petsche of Omaha, NE, and Jaben (Nikki) Wand of Tyler, TX; Grandchildren- Devin Wand, Sven Petsche, Nicholas Wand, Shayloh Petsche, and Makenna Heidleberg; sisters- Ruth Martin of Warren, IL, and Mary Anne (Duane) Ruef of Janesville, WI; 2 brothers- Stanley (Kathy) Wand of Warren, Il and Ronnie Wand of Lena, IL; mother of their children Jo Ann Wand of Omaha, NE; special Niece Tammy Gustason of Lena, IL and numerous nieces, nephews and their children. Special friends the Bussman family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers- Jr., Bob, Kenny and Paul Wand, sister- Rose Mary Wand, and son-in-law Tom Williams
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 4:00-6:00PM at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL with a visitation from 10:00 until the time of service.
Pastor Libby Rutherford will be officiating the service.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Family request guests to wear casual attire.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
