Gayle Emerson

September 10, 1936 – July 17, 2025

Gayle Emerson, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on September 10, 1936, in Port Huron, Michigan, Gayle was the daughter of the late Bailey Herbert Scahill and Juanita J. Leaym. She was also preceded in death by her cherished husband, Robert Emerson, and her brothers, James and Patrick Scahill.

Gayle was a woman of deep love, unwavering faith, and radiant joy. She dedicated 33 years of her life to AT&T and the Bell family of companies, where her work ethic and perseverance left a lasting impact. She believed in the value of hard work, the power of kindness, and the strength of her faith in God.

Gayle loved her family fiercely and found great joy in family gatherings filled with laughter, food, and love. Her compassionate nature and giving spirit touched the lives of many-always ready with a comforting word, a helping hand, or a listening ear.

A true lover of life, Gayle had a passion for dancing and was known to light up the dance floor, especially when the line dances began-favorites like the Electric Slide and Boot Scootin' Boogie always brought out her joyful energy. She also had a special place in her heart for all things Disney, making cherished memories at the Magic Kingdom with her loved ones, delighting in its magic and wonder.

Gayle's legacy lives on through her three children: Pamela (Gene) Minnaugh, Sandy Budd, and Bill (Ellen) Beatie; nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Tim), David, Daniel, Lauren, William, Stephanie (Stephen), Tammy (Tyler), Kristen (Bryan), and Adam; thirteen great-grandchildren: Hayley, Abigail, Chad, Brandon, Javon, Emma, Liam, Leah, Lauren, Alexis, Ava, Rylie, and Brennan; one great-great-grandchild, Sawyer; and many dear nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM, at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, Florida 32073.

Gayle will be deeply missed but never forgotten-her love, laughter, and legacy will live on in all who knew and loved her.

Gayle was a close friend for many years and we met at Parents without Partners and the dances and continued our friendship since the 80's even after we found our special fells at PWP. I will miss my dear friend and know she must be dancing in heaven with the angels.
