Gayle was born on February 16, 1949, in Winfield, Louisiana to Cecil Charlie Horn and Dorothy Madeline Broomfield Horn. She worked as an accountant for over 40 years before retiring to spend time with her family.She enjoyed traveling with her two sisters and friends.Gayle loved her nieces and nephews with her whole heart and thought of her cousins, aunt and uncles as brothers, sisters, moms and dads. Gayle was known for her extravagant Christmases as she loved to bake pies for every single person that asked for one. Gayle attended White's Ferry Road Church of Christ for more than 55 years. She was a faithful believer who loved Jesus Christ and modeled His ways in everything she did. Gayle had two children and raising them was her main focus in life as she did it all by herself. She gave everything she could to them to make sure they did not go without. Above all, she cherished her role as a loving grandmother. Creating lasting memories that they will always be grateful for. She was so kind to everyone, loved very hard, and did anything she could to make people happy, especially her family who loved her dearly.
Survivors include her children, Alison Russo of West Monroe, and Christopher Tippen also of West Monroe; siblings, Sue Brown of West Monroe, Barbara Lazarus of Ruston and Wayne Horn of Brevard, North Carolina; grandchildren, Deven Tippen, Payton Balch, Kylie Gayle Tippen, Darby Sue Tippen and Jayse Russo.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Dorothy Horn; her brother, Buel Horn and his wife Jeanette; her brothers-in-law, Don Lazarus, and Bill Brown; sister-in-law, Sue Horn.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Griffin Funeral Home located at 911 Warren Drive, West Monroe, LA 71291. Services will immediately follow the visitation.
