Gene Harris Clark
"Pops"
Gene Harris Clark (Pops) passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025 surrounded by his family at Novant Mint Hill. Gene was born on February 26, 1937 to the late John Berry Clark and Ealie Bulger Clark in Red Oak, Alabama. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Ronnie Glenn.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 12:15-1:45pm at Indian Trail United Methodist Church. Mr. Clark's celebration of life service will begin at 2pm at the church.
Mr. Clark was a graduate of Troy State University. He spent the bulk of his professional career as a custom home builder and was part of ownership in two local home building companies at various points in his career. He also served his community in various ways including serving as Mayor of Indian Trail in the 1970s. Mr. Clark was an avid fisherman and gardener and he enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with everyone. His greatest joy, though, was found in his family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 62 years Jackie Clark of Indian Trail, NC; his son John Robert Clark (Angie) and daughter Shannon Clark Batchelor (Chris); four grandchildren Garrison (fiancee Hannah Sullivan) and Emilee Batchelor and Madison and Sydney Clark.
The family wishes to extend its sincerest thanks to Novant Mint Hill and Dr. Catherine Ferrara for their support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Indian Trail United Methodist Church, PO Box 130, Indian Trail, NC 28079 or the Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home- Indian Trail.
