Gene Michael Root, 71, of Rossville, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2025,at his home. He was born April 27, 1954, in Lafayette to John L. and Anna Belle (Wagoner) Root. He married Julia Wagoner on February 17, 1974, and she survives.
Gene was a 1972 graduate of Rossville High School. He was a cabinet maker for nearly 50 years. He worked for Wagoner Cabinet Shop, Zinn Kitchens, and B & L Cabinets. He worked for B & L for 42 years. He was a member of Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church until his passing.
Along with his wife of 51 years, Gene is survived by his sons, Warren (Kara) Root and Nathan (Nadine) Root; a brother, Richard (Joyce) Root; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Thomas Eugene Root; and sister-in-law, Marjorie
Visitation will be held Friday, May 30, 2025, from 2-5pm and 6-8pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel in Rossville. Funeral services will be held, Saturday, May 31, at 10am at Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church with Home Brethren officiating. Burial will follow at Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery.
