George Boynton Obituary

George Walter Boynton Sr., known to family and friends as Buddy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mr. Boynton passed away on June 28, 2025 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge, NJ at the age of 94.
He was born on January 30, 1931 to Kate and Walter Raleigh Boynton in Plainfield, NJ. He grew up in Plainfield, NJ where he met and married his wife of 52 years, Ismay Elizabeth Smith of Bermuda (Deceased). They resided in Scotch Plains, before moving to Newark, NJ, Hamilton Bermuda and Matawan, NJ. They are survived by five children: Deborah Boynton (Cook), Wanda Boynton, Brenda Boynton, George Boynton, Jr. & wife Eleanor Boynton, and Sandra Boynton. Predeceased by daughter Angela Crute "Boynton" and sister Dorothy Purce and brother William Boynton.
George worked as an iron worker in Plainfield, was in the NJ Army Reserves, and a Tractor Trailer and Truck Driver for A&D Beverages before his retirement.
George was a humble man and a people person, known for waving and saying hello to everyone he came in contact with. He enjoyed his association with Jehovah's Witnesses and made sure his family were able to make their Conventions and other meetings. He loved family events, and his hobbies were: He was a Ham Operator, He enjoyed fixing and tinkering with electronics, learning and playing his guitars, piano, shooting pool and videotaping and photographing family and friends.
George will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
George is survived by 5 of his children mentioned earlier. He is also survived by the following 10 Grandchildren Adrienne, Jonathan, Tanyka, Brandon, Ronnie, Ismay, Qiana, Qisha, Schauna, and Simone. He also leaves a host of cherished great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for George on Saturday, June 26, 2025 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
