George Edward Morey of Kalkaska, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025. He was born to Arlys and Olive Morey in his own home in Kalkaska on March 14, 1939. He loved his family and took such pride spending time with them. He loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. If George was not tending to his garden or woodworking in the garage, he was off trying to catch the big catch of the day. He loved to fish; his favorite was bluegill. He would be on a lake with 30 other fishermen, and he would be the only one catching any fish! George was a man of his word but led by his big heart. He was always there to lend a helping hand.
George married his beloved wife Pauline Kay Beaver in May of 1958. They proceeded to work hard through the years and raise three strong-willed children. They enjoyed their time berry-picking, fishing, and taking long drives, and George would love to pack the whole house for his wife just to go camping for the weekend. George held Pauline 's hand and stood by her side until their final goodbye on September 14, 2023.
His path led him to Annabelle Leone Haviland, they were a couple in August of 2024. The two exchanged wedding vows in April of 2025 on Jordan Lake in Odessa, Michigan. They traveled from Grand Haven, to the U.P. and Holland. Their trips may have seemed short, but they were a lot longer when George had to stop every few miles to kiss his bride, they had a love like no other.
George will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ann; children Kerry Morey, Wesley (Carol) Morey and Duane (Kelly) Morey; stepchildren Rob (Cindy) Haviland, Teresa (Chris) Hathaway, Jody (Rick) Swanberg and Donda Schippers-Noel; grandchildren Cory, Justin (Missy), Ashley and Britney; his siblings Robert, Jerry, Leslie and Rita; great-grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his wife Pauline Morey; his father Arlys Morey; his mother Olive Beach; his siblings Shirley, Melvin, Frederick, Ronald, Mervin, Danny and Edith.
To celebrate George's life, a funeral service will be held at Kalkaska Funeral Home on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 11 AM with a visitation starting at 9 AM. The burial will follow at Oliver Township Cemetery. A luncheon will be provided from 1:00 - 4:00pm. at the Vista Green RV Park. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services
