George Lynn Yager, age 75, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born March 20, 1950, in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Edgar Yager and Ellen Nelson Yager.

He attended a technical college and learned drafting. After that, he got a job at Nucor Steel in Norfolk, Nebraska where he worked as a mechanical engineer until 1983. He later worked at Mississippi Steel in Flowood, Mississippi until 1985 and then retired from Gerdau Ameristeel in 2019 where he continued to do consulting work for them.

George enjoyed woodworking and built a shop in the back of his garage. He had about every tool you could ever imagine. He was a devoted member of Concordia Lutheran Church for over forty-one years, serving in many various positions in the church. He most recently served as president of the congregation and President of the Executive Board of the Concordia Conservatory.

George was a member of the Institute of Roll Design for over forty years, holding many executive positions.

He was the best father he could be. He loved each of his children and grandchildren and was so proud of their achievements. He appreciated his wife, Suzanne, for the care she provided him, the meals she cooked for him and the way she stood up for him to get what he needed.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his two brothers, Michael Yager and Roger Yager.

He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Suzanne Yager of Jackson, Tennessee; two sons, Kristopher Yager (Jennifer) of Martin, Tennessee and Nicholaus Yager (Ann Maire) of Campton, New Hampshire; daughter, Elizabeth Puckett (Jimmy) of Hendersonville, Tennessee; two brothers, Alan Yager of Omaha, Nebraska and Larry Yager (Doris) of Flower Mound, Texas; one sister, Kathy Yager of Omaha, Nebraska; and two grandchildren, Katelynn White (Eli) and Brady Puckett.
