Georgette Kay Bauman, the daughter of Richard and Flossie (Johnson) Freesemann was born on March 15, 1939, in rural Butler County near Parkersburg, Iowa. Georgette died on May 27, 2025, in Olathe, Kansas.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 2, at St. James Lutheran Church, Allison with burial in the Allison Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m., Monday. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory, Allison is caring for Georgette and her family.
Georgette was baptized as an infant at Christian Reformed Church, Parkersburg, Iowa and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Allison, Iowa at the time of her death.
Georgette attended country school from kindergarten through 4th grade. After that she attended Allison Public School, graduating from Allison High School in 1957.
Georgette married Duane T. Bauman on February 6, 1958. They raised their five children on the Bauman family farm north of Allison. They were married until Duane's death on October 3, 1997.
Georgette was employed briefly after high school graduation at Lutheran Mutual Insurance Company in Waverly, Iowa. Following that she was a busy wife and mom. She helped on the family farm and was the office manager for Bauman Real Estate.
Georgette enjoyed family life and attending the activities of her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church, W.E.L.C.A and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She en-joyed serving as precinct chair for elections in Butler County for several years. She was competitive and loved following the local high school sports teams and attending school concerts and plays. She enjoyed playing the piano and the organ. She enjoyed caring for her large yard, listening to country and gospel music, traveling, speaking German when she had the opportunity, collecting angels, and playing games. She also enjoyed collecting teacups and tea pots and loved sharing a cup of tea with family and friends.
Georgette is survived by her 5 children: Gwenda Bauman of Houston, Texas; Denise (Lon) Friesth of Ur-bandale, Iowa; Leon (Linda) Bauman of Olathe, Kansas; Donita (Owen) Greenough of Urbandale, Iowa; and Jason (Kelly) Bauman of Pearland, Texas. Her 13 grandchildren: Tana (James) Perry, Michael (Quinn) Friesth; Lisa (Anthony) Flynn, Adam Friesth, Eric Friesth, Trevor (Madison) Bauman, Thomas Bauman, Celeste (Tyler) Smits, Kiersten Bauman, Austin Greenough, Ryan Greenough, Taylor (Josh) McWilliams, and Brooke Bauman. Her 5 great grandchildren: Margaret Perry, Lorelei Friesth, Benjamin Friesth, Logan Flynn, and Avery McWilliams. Her brother, Marley (Gretchen) Freesemann; sister, Jeanette (Jan) Frank-en; sister-in-law, Rita Bauman; and many nieces and nephews.
Georgette was preceded in death by her husband, Duane T. Bauman; her parents, Richard and Flossie Freesemann; brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry (Audrey) Freesemann and Robert (Harriet) Freesemann; and brother-in-law, Dale C. Bauman.
