Georgine Washington Obituary

On July 3rd, 2025 Georgine "Jean" Washington was called home to dwell with our Heavenly Father in paradise.
Georgine was born August 26th 1934 in Tylertown Mississippi, and was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana.
She moved to Chicago, Illinois where she met her lifetime love, Ernest Washington Jr. They shared 67years of devotion until his death. To their union two daughters were born. Yvette (Lloyd) Dickerson, and Cheryl (Johnny) Williams.
She retired from Jefferson Parish School Board after 45 years of service.
Devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her generous heart and kind spirit made her easy to love.
Georgine was proceeded in death by her husband Ernest Washington Jr, mother Mazie Ludd- Bradford, brothers, John. L. Ludd, and Smith Earl Ludd, and son in law Lloyd Vincent Dickerson.
In addition to her daughters, Georgine also leaves to cherish her memory, three granddaughters Kristina Dickerson of Dallas, Texas, Torrie (Devin) Rogers, New Orleans, Louisiana and Lauren (Paul) Carter, Gretna, Louisiana. Seven great grandchildren Jeremy, Joshua, and Jadyn Holt, Devin II, and Torrin Rogers, Logan, and Clark Carter. Brother in law Laverne (DeAnna) Washington of Brooklyn, New York, God daughter Lorrie Jones- Sandifer, God son Tyrone Jefferson and as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Georgine's care givers, Bruenicka Thomas, Demetria Berry, Annette Stevens, and Donna Frazier. The entire staff at Wynhoven Community Care Center, and Notre Dame Hospice.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a graveside memorial honoring Georgine's life and legacy at West Lawn Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Ave. Terrytown, Louisiana 70056 will on Tuesday, July 15th, 2025 at 10:00am.
