It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Louis McCallister on May 14th, 2025 at his residency in Corsicana. He was born to Juanita Clara and Louis McCallister on March 11th, 1949 in Arkansas. In 1957, the family moved to Ennis, Texas where Jerry attended Ennis High School.
After high school, this young jack of all trades moved to Houston, Texas to become lead maintenance at an apartment complex and later received recognition for teaching the largest air conditioning certification class in Texas at the time. Always being an outdoorsman, his star gazing led him to become an avid, self-taught astronomer. He also enjoyed bird watching and was able to identify numerous avian species by both sight and sound. Moreover, he pursued this passion via his dream job with a trucking company, traveling the open road to study birds from state to state.
Jerry was a devout Christian and lover of knowledge. He reflected these deep characteristics while practicing martial arts, camping, studying theology, sketching art, learning foreign languages, and playing various musical instruments.
Jerry will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, his brother Glen and sister Mary. Surviving are his son, Gerald Jr., his brother David, sisters Carole and Linda, and a host of nephews and nieces.
