Gerald Franklyn Norton, age 81, of Carleton, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Gardens of Carleton.
Born on March 12, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Howard and Mildred (Sotke) Norton. On April 6, 1968, he married Barbara (Erdei) Norton in Lincoln Park, Michigan.
He was employed with DT&I as a machinist for 31 years, until retiring in March of 2003.
Jerry was a very faithful man and served the Lord in many ways. He was a deacon at his church, Carleton Community Baptist.
More than anything, Gerald will be remembered as a silly person. He always had a joke and an infectious smile. He loved to work on cars, and had a classic car in the Autorama. His past times were bowling and fishing. He was a true Detroit sports fan who loved watching the Tigers and the Lions.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Norton; children, Darren Norton, Tisha (Eric) Joffe; grandchildren, Samantha Norton, Hannah Norton, Jacob Joffe, Emma Joffe; sister, Lynn Norton.
Visitation will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home, Carleton Chapel on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 1:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at 4:00 pm. Pastor George Fountain will officiate the service. Entombment will be in Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, Huron Township, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Monroe Humane Society.
