Mrs. Gerry Sue Sykes Goins, born October 28, 1945, passed away at St. Thomas West Hospital on July 3, 2025, at the age of 79.
Gerry Sue devoted her life to her family, raising four children with unwavering love, grace, and strength. A stay-at-home mom by choice and calling, she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Her days were spent not only managing the endless tasks of a busy household but doing so with patience and joy that made every day brighter.
Gerry Sue had a gift of making others feel seen and loved – whether it was her daily calls to other shut ins or widows, making crafts and kitty cat cookies with grandchildren, or working in her role as president of the New Hope FCE club. She was an active participant of Relay for Life after her husband, Mike, passed from cancer.
Gerry Sue had a passion for gardening, finding joy in growing flowers that brought beauty to her surroundings. Her gardening was not just a hobby but a reflection of her nurturing spirit. She also enjoyed the serenity of birds and butterfly watching, taking moments to observe the delicate dance of nature.
Her love for her children and grandchildren was fierce and unconditional, and she took immense pride in their growth, passions, and accomplishments. While her children were young, she was an active scout leader for both the Cubs and Girl Scouts. She loved deeply, laughed freely, and gave generously of herself to those she held dear. Her legacy is carried on in the lives of her children, the values she instilled, and in the countless moments of comfort and love she gave so freely.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00pm Monday, July 7th and from 9:00am until service time Tuesday, July 8th at Humphreys County Funeral Home.
