Gertie Sledge Obituary

Gertie (Marie) Sledge, 68, of Cookeville, formerly of Madisonville, passed away Sunday morning, July 13, 2025 at her home. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Dewayne Sledge; parents, Noah and Ersie Crowder Raper and several siblings. She was one of 12 children. She loved coloring, time spent with her babies, music (Elvis Presley) and dancing. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Craig Cranfield, of Riceville; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Tonya Sledge, of Sweetwater; son, Shane Sledge, of Madisonville; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, Biereley-Hale Chapel. Rev. Keith Taylor will officiate. The interment will follow in Forkner Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12-2 P.M. Wednesday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
