Gertrude Marie (Kellams) Mourfield, joined her husband of 71 years, Curtis Mourfield in heaven on February 8, 2025. Gertrude was the oldest of 10 children born to Isabell (Johnson)Kellams and Vernie Kellams. Gertrude or Gert as she preferred was born on July 9, 1930, in South Bend, Indiana. She is survived by three Siblings, Pauline Huffman, Charles Kellams, and Mary Ellen Lang. She is also survived by her three children, Melvin Mourfield of Muncie, IN, Diane Sittloh Wehr of Mesa, AZ, and Dean Mourfield of Westfield, IN as well as 9 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.
Gert had the gift of service and was a devoted spouse for 71 years until Curt passed in 2022. She worked with him in their family business, while raising their 3 children in Centerville, IN. She was a tireless caregiver, and a wonderful cook. If you left hungry, it was your fault. Gert was also wildly competitive. She loved playing cards and games, especially with her grandchildren. A long time Centerville resident and a Graduate of Centerville High School, she moved to Indianapolis later in life to be closer to her children.
A private family celebration of both Gert and Curt's lives will be held in the spring at Crown Hill Cemetery where they will be placed together.
