Gilbert Felix Garcia, 83, a longtime resident of Española, born in Santa Fe, NM and raised in Coyote, went to be with the Lord on April 30, 2025, following a lengthy illness. Gilbert was best known for his successful business that he owned, operated and worked at for over 40 years, Gilbert's Auto Repair.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Carla, his wife, Stephanie Garcia, his parents Felix and Manuelita Garcia, his biological mother, Candelaria Martinez, sisters, Irene De La Cruz, and Jean Lopez and most recently, his great grandson Isaac Madrid.
Gilbert is survived by his eight children: June (Isauro) Madrid, Herman (Anna) Garcia Sr., Manuel "Mingo" (Carmen) Garcia, Nancy (Lenny) Martinez, Melissa Garcia, Carolyn (Brandon) Cowan, David Garcia, Irene Garcia, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, brothers Pres, Felix and Floyd Garcia, and Ernie, Junior and John (Renee) Martinez. He is survived also by many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends he held close to his heart.
Gilbert was a wonderful father who instilled the values of generosity and hard work in all of his children. He emphasized the importance of having a relationship with our Heavenly Father. He was a great friend to many and will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, his never-ending gift of giving, and his love for so many who touched his life in some way. Our lives will forever be changed by the loss of our Dad, the strongest man we ever knew. He never let his illnesses stop him from living his life in his way.
A Rosary will take place on May 9th, 2025, at 10:30am with mass to follow at 11:00am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz. A private burial will take place at a later time at Rosario Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
