After a 4 year fight with pancreatic cancer, Glen Cunningham passed away on June 25, 2025. He was very deeply loved by his wife, and best friend, Julienne (Winters) Cunningham, and left this life with her and their furbabies by his side. Glen was an incredible artist with an indelible imagination and creative soul. His wild imagination was in full display when acting as Dungeon Master to various Dungeons and Dragons parties over the years. Guiding friends that became family. For the last 15 years he has helped care for aging family members, including Julienne's mother and grandmother, and his own beautiful mom. With the patience of a saint, he helped them as they aged. Following his diagnosis he and Julienne knew his time was going to be short so they spent all the time they could together. Having moved to the foothills of Sacramento in 2013 from Palm Springs, he worked locally in memory care wards until Covid hit. Then started caregiving for his mother in law Valerie Winters.
He was born in Michigan, and adopted by Carol (Ernst) and Wayne Cunningham a few weeks later. They brought him home and raised him in Okemos. He followed high school with stints at Western Michigan, Fashion Institute of Technology and Art Center Pasadena. He lived in multiple states from coast to coast and was always willing to move as opportunities arose.
He was caring for his mom in Palm Desert, California when he and Julienne met in 2005. They have rarely left each other's side since that Christmas. They wed in Julienne's grandmother's back yard on May 3, 2008. They recently honored their 17th anniversary as celebrating seemed wrong knowing his time was nearing.
He did not lose his fight against cancer, because he fought it to the draw and took it with him. He was just an incredibly kind human who died entirely too young and will be missed by so many people.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father. He left behind his wife and his Ernst family.
"Love, I don't like to see so much pain
So much wasted and this moment keeps slipping away
I get so tired of working so hard for our survival
I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive"
~Peter Gabriel, In Your Eyes
