Glenn Wayne Hugi
September 20, 1952 – July 10, 2025
Glenn Wayne Hugi, of Belton, Missouri, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, after a life marked by steadfast faith, gentle humor, and a heart full of gratitude for the saving grace of Jesus. Glenn's testimony was simple yet profound: "I love Jesus, and Jesus loves me." He never tired of sharing how Jesus saved him, and he lived every day in quiet awe of that mercy.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, on September 20, 1952, Glenn was the beloved middle child of Kathleen and Fred Hugi. He was flanked by his older sister, Diana Corzine, and "little Sherry"-his younger sister who arrived just 11.5 months after him, whose bold spirit gave Glenn a lifetime of loving banter. Glenn, Diana, Sherry, Sherry's husband Tim, and Glenn's wife Shereece celebrated many birthdays at Paulo and Bill's, where Glenn would rave about the lasagna-as if it were the first time he'd ever tasted it-every time. That was Glenn: a man who found joy in the familiar and delight in the details. Glenn and his sisters teased each other endlessly and shared a bond built on laughter, loyalty, and a sibling shorthand only the three Hugi kids could fully understand.
Glenn devoted his entire professional career to The Lewer Agency, where he became more than a trusted colleague-he built a lifelong friendship with the Lewer family. Over decades of service, he managed the company's mail operations with care, precision, and quiet pride. He retired in 2020, leaving behind not just a job well done, but a legacy of loyalty, consistency, and genuine friendship.
A lifelong KU fan, Glenn cheered on the Jayhawks with an unmatched-and frankly, uncharacteristic-level of energy. If KU played well, he'd do a little victory jig, arms in the air, the rare moment when his quiet demeanor gave way to full-out celebration. That was also about the only time anyone ever heard him shout. Baseball was another source of joy for Glenn-he never wanted to miss a Kansas City Royals game, no matter how the season was going. His sports loyalty mirrored the kind of man he was: steadfast, patient, and ready to celebrate effort over outcome, win or lose.
Glenn had a deep love of learning-especially when it came to new Spanish words. He took genuine delight in practicing new phrases and would light up when he got to use them. No birthday passed without a joyful "Feliz cumpleaños!"-a small but meaningful reminder of how much he cared to connect with others in the ways that made them feel seen and celebrated.
He treasured the stillness of prayer and Scripture, and he lived his life as one long thank-you to Jesus. Shortly before his passing, Glenn shared that he felt the presence of the Lord and was humbled in awe. He especially loved praise music that exalted the Name above all names. With a rich, warm voice, Glenn sang worship songs with sincerity and soul. It wasn't just music-it was devotion.
He was "Papa Glenn" to his grandchildren, and a devoted partner to his beloved wife, Shereece. Together, they shared a life built on faith, prayer, and quiet strength. Glenn loved deeply but gently, and he leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness, worship, and warmth.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Shereece Hugi of Belton, Missouri; his sisters, Diana Corzine of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Sherry Hugi, along with his beloved brothers-in-law, Tim Kennedy and Dennis Coleman. He is also survived by his nephew, Jason (Sherri Cavin) Corzine; and cousins, Barb and Herb Gann, Donna Stroup, Cheryl Mumford, Susan Papernik, Janet Smith, and Rob Hugi.
He was a proud and loving part of the family he shared with Shereece, including son Ryan Breit (Shawna Price), daughter Melissa Boyd (Daniel), and daughter Stephanie (Andy) Hilton. Glenn was "Papa Glenn" to grandchildren Aidan Freeman, Destinee (Joe) Sciacca, Cole Hilton, Chase Hilton, Lana Andula Breit, Emma Hilton, and Adele Boyd.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nonny "Kathleen" Hugi (née Russell), and father, Fred John Hugi.
Though we will miss him dearly, we rejoice knowing Glenn is now singing in perfect peace, in the presence of the One who saved him.
