Gloria A. Martinez, 89, of Myerstown, PA, died Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Cedar Haven Healthcare Center, Lebanon.
She was the wife of Emil P. Martinez, to whom she was married 65 years on September 12, 2024.
Born in Corona, NY on September 6, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Bonoventura and Anna (Longo) Imbagliazzo.
Gloria was a 1954 graduate of Bishop McDonald High School; a 1958 graduate of St. John's University, where she received her Bachelor's in Education; and a graduate of Fordham University, where she received her Master's in Education. She was employed as a teacher at Mercy High School, Riverhead, NY, for over 40 years, retiring in 1999. Gloria was a member of Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Church, Myerstown, where she was active in the CCW. She enjoyed baking and reading.
In addition to her husband, Gloria is survived by a son, Emil, husband of Barbara Martinez, of Perkasie; daughter, Christine, wife of Bob Williams, of Myerstown; son, Matthew, husband of Anna Martinez, of Kutztown; and 16 grandchildren, who were the center of her life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 29 2025 at 11 a.m. at Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Church, 188 W. McKinley Ave., Myerstown, PA 17067. A viewing will be held Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, PA 17067. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
