Gloria Merle Rushing Fortinberry, 85 of Tylertown, MS passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025 at the Billdora Senior Care. She was born Sunday, December 17, 1939 in Tylertown, MS to the late Milton Rushing and Merle Powe Rushing. Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by her brothers, Doug Rushing, Reid Rushing, and Bruner Rushing; and sister, Peggy Ann Rushing.
Visitation will be held at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home, 412 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, MS on Sunday, July 6, 2025 from 1:00 PM until funeral service at 3:00 PM with burial to follow in the Knoxo Cemetery. Brother Randall Griffin will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Gloria was a loving devoted hardworking mother. For 10 years she worked in the garment industry such as, Haspels, as a department supervisor and 40 years as a real estate agent for Doug Rushing Realty Inc. Her Halloween parties where she prepared the best Mexican food for family and friend will always be remembered. Ms. Gloria enjoyed fishing, working in her yard, and spending time with her sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Greg Mitchell (Joni) and McNeil Mitchell; daughter, Sandy Duncan; grandchildren, Alex Duncan and Sarah Beth Sandifer; great grandchildren, MaKenzie Duncan, Aubri Sandifer, and Abbi Sandifer; sisters, Opal Smith (Gary), Alice Faye Johnson (James), Kay Newman, and Tanya Poiroux (Ken); along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.
Pallbearers will be Steve Rushing, Ron Rushing, Alan Bridevaux, Blake Bridevaux, Seth Touchstone, and Jacob Candtrell.
Honorary pallbearer will be Ronnie Duncan.
