Gordon Dean Lowry passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, at the age of 82. Born and raised
in Denver, Colorado, Gordon lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering love for family, and
joyful service to others.
He met his wife, Bette Shaw, at Abilene Christian University, and the two were married on
March 12, 1966. Together, they shared nearly 60 years of marriage. Gordon had a long career
with Del Monte Foods. They were transferred many times and lived in Colorado, Arkansas,
Tennessee, and Texas. Wherever they lived, Gordon and Bette quickly became part of a church
family and every church seemed to be in need of a song leader. Gordon had a true gift for song
leading, and his love for music and worship was evident to all who knew him.
Gordon and Bette have been members of Pipeline Road and then Legacy Church of Christ for
many years, where Gordon served as an Elder. Gordon was deeply devoted to both his personal
family and his church family. He was known for his servant's heart, joyful spirit, selfless nature,
and optimistic character. He loved people deeply, studied God's word with great devotion, and
had a special talent for teaching and sharing the gospel.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Lowry, and his brother, John D.
Lowry. He is survived by his loving wife, Bette; his children, Chris Lowry and wife Jaimie,
Carrie Lowry, and Jamie Sanders and husband Mason; his grandchildren, Hannah Mercer and
husband John, Jackson Lowry and wife Shauna, Jacob Sanders, and Zachary Sanders; and his
great-grandson, Dean Mercer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Legacy Missions through Legacy Church of Christ,
