Grace Richardson, 75, of rural Macy, Indiana met her Lord at 8:45 am, Wednesday, March 5, 2025 surrounded by family at Woodlawn Hospital of Rochester, Indiana.
Grace was born on October 9, 1949, in Peru, Indiana, to the late William L. "Bill" and Emma Mae (DeHaven) Dawalt. She married Kenneth W. Richardson on July 1, 1966, at Ebenezer Church near Macy, Indiana. After 50 years of marriage, Kenneth preceded her in death on May 31, 2017.
Grace worked at various local establishments, including multiple restaurants which included the Covered Bridge and Akron Country Kitchen. Her brand of humor was beloved by all who knew her. Generations of her family played a role in establishing the Ebenezer Church, where she was a lifelong member.
Grace had just returned from her annual vacation to the Cayman Islands a few days before her passing, a trip she loved dearly. She enjoyed listening to bands, playing games, spending time with family, and your drink is my drink. Grace never met a butt she didn't want to pinch. Gracie lived a life well-lived.
She is survived by her daughters Mindee and husband Mike Turner of Logansport, Ind. and Wendy and husband Dale Green of Culver, Ind.; grandchildren Gunnar VanHorn, Lindsey and husband Adam Calhoun, KCee Richardson and Ryan Underwood, Hodge, and Josh and wife Jessie Green; great grandchildren Bentley, Nathan, Stetson, Dexxle, Berkley, and Brewer; sister Patty and husband Chris McGuire, Mexico, Ind.; sister-in-law Renee Dawalt of Twelve Mile; and nieces and nephews Rachel Merrix, John and wife Brittany Merrix, Mark and wife Leah Merrix, and Stacey and wife Polly Dawalt. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother Dave Dawalt.
Following her wishes, a celebration of Life will be held at 3 pm to 6 pm, Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Manitou Moose Lodge 1911 Westside Rd, Rochester, IN 46975.
The arrangements have been entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home 305 West Rochester Street Akron, Indiana.
Memorial contributions can be made, in lieu of flowers, her memory to the Ebenezer Church.
