Gracykutty Babu, age 80, of Houston Texas passed away on July 4th, 2025 at her home.
She was born on April 1, 1945 to Oommen Habel and Mariamma Cherian. She married Koshy K. Babu on December 25, 1972 in India.
She was a registered nurse for approximately 30 years. It was her RN status that gave the opportunity to get a work visa to the United States in 1974, opening the door for her family to immigrate and establish themselves... first in NY, and then TX... and now the next generations of her family in NC and VA
In the 50 plus years that she has been in the United States, being a part of a church community was always important to her. There was rarely a Sunday that she would not be in church!
She was one of the founding members of St. Gregorios in Houston, as well as an active member in a few others before finally finding her church home at The New Testament Church in Houston.
Whether you knew her as Gracykutty or Gracy, she was always willing to help anyone in need. She was a powerful prayer warrior, so she would pray constantly for all of her friends, family, neighbors... everyone she came across. She also blessed many people by making and taking them food. She was known for her kachiye mor, meen curry, and her achaars... whether it was mango, lemon or fish achaar didn't matter, they were all delicious, and she got many requests for them!
She is survived by her husband of almost 53 years (Koshy K. Babu), her daughter (Blessy Marin), her son-in-law (Mustak Marin), and the loves of her life... her three grandsons (Andrew, Mark & Zack).
She was the last of all of her siblings to go... she is now reunited in glory with her brothers and sisters: Marykutty, Mamachen, Georgekutty, Thankamma & Mathewkutty.
She was a no nonsense woman who didn't desire material things... she lived a simple life and wanted a simple send off... in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a ministry or missions organization of your choice. She took to heart the Lord's mandate to send the gospel message into all the world!
The Lord gives, the Lord takes away... we will always say, "BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD!"
